1. Hi guys, how did “Harsh Realms” project get born?
Harsh Realms was born out of the ashes of punk ‘n roll band Overgrown. Their guitar player quit the band and Maarten, Wouter and Hans wanted to carry on under a different name and shift the musical direction more towards Punkrock. They found a new guitar player and KABOOOM! Here’s Harsh Realms.
2. Tell us about your last studio album.
Our debut full length PØLP was released on Shield Recordings last October. Releasing an album on Shield Recordings was actually one of the goals we had when we first started the band, so that’s one goal accomplished! It features heartfelt songs that were written over the last 2 years.
We actually had a lot of technical problems during the recording process. We had 6 songs recorded, but we weren’t really satisfied with the sound, so we changed studio’s. And then all of a sudden all the guitars we touched were out of tune, so we had to fix them guitars. But in the end we are pretty satisfied with how the album turned out. And luckily the reviews are mostly very positive.. So hooray!
3. Which are the bands most influenced your music?
Oh man, a lot of bands are inspiring to us, just to name some: Red City Radio, Off With Their Heads, The Bronx, The Gaslight Anthem, The Riot Before, Hot Water Music, The Loved Ones, Chuck Ragan, Banquets, Strike Anywhere, Against Me!, The Menzingers, Gallows, Teenage Bottlerocket, …
4. Three words to describe your project.
Let me think.. I’d go for: Give, Us, Money
5. Tell us a funny anecdote about you.
That time we ended up having a total blackout after a show. The next day, we found our drummer at an industrial site with 7 used condoms from a Polish brand up his arse…
